So the solution is making the Middle East even more unstable, pissing off key allies in the region, breeding further anti west feelings and laying the foundation for a global economic crisis.

No, the solution is to crush the Iranian Regime from bullying other Countries by neutering them badly. The one's pissing those off in the Region is the Iranian Regime showing their true colours by lashing out indiscriminately (their modus operandi) at neighbour states. Qatar, Saudi and UAE are all pissed that Trump started this. They know what Iran is like, but had coexisted with them reasonably well. Now their tourism is in bits as is the reputation as a safe haven.
