Odds slashed from 5/1 to 7/2.
Watch this space.
I think we're fucked.

Hardly news that you think we'll go down, is it?

If we dont strengthen our defence / our ability to defend we go down imo.
Sullivan has all but confirmed we wont be strengthening the CB area and that no players wantvto come to West Ham which really means he has no intention of spending any money this window. The sale of Paqueta and Guilherme has paid for Taty and Pablo. We’ve yet again, materially reduced the wage bill. Sullivan is in full cost cutting mode the only thing he knows how to do.
We get relegated as a result imo

Mateta wants to leave Palace
Yes he does. It's a shame they are replacing a malcontent with someone who wants to be there and probably has a point to prove. However it's likely a downgrade and Strand Larsen could have just been a one season wonder. Cue 10 goals during the remainder of the season now
Very true, I am relieved we did not buy him

I hope he has an instant impact for Palace and scores their winner against Forest. I just don't see Palace going down and would rather concentrate on Forest remaining on what they have, especially when we have Chelsea away next. Forest pull away with a win then we will be in even more trouble.
Forest are also on a nice unbeaten run themselves in their last 3 and need that momentum coming to a sudden stop for a bit.
You absolute clown.
Both are catchable, both are still in Europe. We need a draw.

Leeds and Forest are our realistic chances of getting out of this, not the likes of Palace hardly getting many more points with the 28 they already have.

Mateta leaving I guess
That's a bit of a shame actually as it'll lift the spirits of the club a little bit. Was hoping they wouldn't sign anyone.

But it rarely works out that way. At the bottom, the bigger teams suddenly find a second wind, while those overachieving fall away.
That's what I'm hoping happens with Leeds. Not over-confident though.

Since Christmas we have conceded another ten goals in six league games thus our deplorable defending more or less continues. And judging by this window continues unaddressed.
We remain the third most likely team to go down.
How costly might that home defeat to Forest turn out to be?
Yes, you would think that if he's the football genius he claims to be that Sullivan would see it's far easier and now cheaper given relative investment levels to win games 1-0 or even get a point 0-0 by shoring up the defence and avoid having to try and score at least 2 or 3 goals every game to get a win.

I've never thought we would go down at any stage. I only half-jokingly said at New Year when we reached 14 points, that '10 wins and we'll stay up'. People laughed, but we've had two before the end of January. There's always an assumption when a team is doing well or badly that it will continue because, well, why shouldn't it? But it rarely works out that way. At the bottom, the bigger teams suddenly find a second wind, while at the top those overachieving fall away. I wouldn't put my non-existent mortagage on it, of course, but I've seen us do this so many times before that I think we're actually really good at avoiding relegation.

Loaning JWP to another club fighting relegation is Sullivan's MO. He would not spend 1p to make a pound.
We are cut adrift by five points, between 18th and 12th, five points
The business done in this window will be decisive. Add a cup, run it's going to be a nail-biting four months

FWIW
On the predictor I have us staying up on 38 Pts & Crystal Palace going down with 33 Pts
Chelsea L
Burnley W
Man U L
Bournemouth W
Liverpool L
Fulham D
Man C L
Villa L
Wolves w
Palace D
Everton D
Brentford D
Arsenal L
Newcastle D
Leeds W
That run of Wolves, Palace, Everton then Brentford could be what defines the season.
It does give you some hope and I do believe that for whatever reason we have turned a bit of a corner, but what worries me is that Leeds and Forest continue to pick up points, particularly Leeds.

You've miscalculated. Those results would take us to 37 points.
But looking at the fixtures, does make you realise how many winnable games are still to come.

Palace to get only five points from their next fifteen?! I bet three of them are against us. Can't see them being that bad.
Leeds are still the ones for me, we need to make up four points on them (maybe three if we sort our GD) in the next fourteen games and then do them on the last day of the season. This is probably our best chance.

As the site misery and curmudgeon, I see it as my duty to spread hopelessness and despair relating to West Ham. Im saving many from themselves especially those addicted to hope.
Im delighted when proved wrong ( last 2 weeks ) but really think the xmas period sealed our fate. The transfer window these last 3 weeks seems to equate to a “fat lady getting ready to sing”.

I had us for Spurs and Sunderland wins, and by nothing other than a lucky guess, I got the Sunderland score right
Our last six-game form is the same as Chelsea's. The omens are all there for a West Ham win
