Agreed but also sounds a bit like something ferret would post.

Hope to be proved wrong, but having just seen that Sunderland are without 6 afcon players plus Dan Ballard at home against Leeds today I think we'll probably be looking at a 9 point gap to them by close of play

Mid table? 17th you mean.

I have tickets for the QPR game, originally thought it was Saturday but now its Sunday and travel is fucked I am knocking it on the head and just taking the hit on money I have paid for the tickets.
The thought of sitting in that cesspit with zero atmosphere whilst 9000 QPR fans take the piss isn't my idea of a good use of time

I'm thinking of knocking the Brighton game on the head, i'm so fucking depressed about the whole thing.
I've never missed a home game since we moved to the shithole.

QPR are half decent this season. Who would have thought I would be jealous of QPR with a FOOTBALL stadium.
QPR will turn up at the cesspit backed by 9000 fans taking the absolute piss and probably beat us then it really will be season over.

The highest profile players in that team as well as the team.collectively when playing in the Cup have shown themselves able to compete below Premier League level.
Casey, Potts, Earthy, Scarles...all clearly capable of playing good level Championship football.
Orford, Kante, Fearon, Herrick, Marshall, Myers...hugely well thought of and you'd expect to adjust seamlessly.
Then there are others....Cummings, Ajala, Golambeckis....that you would expect to come through and would be getting loans next season at that level .
Plus even if we wanted to we won't be able to shift every senior squad members so augment them with a few like KWP, JWP, maybe Guilherme, maybe someone on smaller wages like a Magassa...
...and we have a squad already that won't see us plummet to league one, and that is pretty much ready to go.
IMO we'd compete at the top end of the Championship...the challenge is staying up if you get up...Sunderland look like making a good fist of it but almost none of their squad played Championship football last season. It's a vastly inferior league and a team that smashes the Championship is rarely well enough equipped to survive the Premier League.
So you Yo-Yo a couple seasons....and it's the second relegation that I'd be fearful for.
We will find out on 11th Jan how we are likely to fare in the Championship and how good our academy is! QPR are having a reasonable season. If we are going to bounce straight up we should beat them comfortably. We'll see!

Re: West Ham United 25/26 relegation thread
It’s amazing that people are failing to take into account the owners will make the same crap decisions in whatever league they find themselves, we’ll be the next Birmingham and being absolutely candid the club deserve it for the way we’ve been run, the fans don’t deserve it but just by being associated with the West Ham brand will be tarred with the same brush.

I actually think we will come straight back up. We already have a championship team plus the parachute money and promising youngsters it will happen the trick is staying up.

Although I'm an Atheist I've made my peace with god, champoinship here we come.
Re: West Ham United 25/26 relegation thread
In the past going down I've felt confident of coming up, this time I have no faith whatsoever
Teams will target us in the half empty stadium, and I've more belief we'll struggle or even drop down again.
IF by some miracle we bounce back, the money the prem teams get, we'll be so far behind cash wise we'll struggle when we get back. Most promoted teams struggle and often fall again.
Seriously how are so far behind teams like bournmouth, Fulham, Brighton, brentford and fucking palace... oh sullivan, thats why
They had BETTER drop season ticket prices next year

Re: West Ham United 25/26 relegation thread
First we are going down as we would need to win 50% of the remaining matches. Second all this tripe about 'getting' West Ham is complete bullshit, to professional footballers it's a job, nothing more nothing less for which they are paid handsomely so they don't give a fuck who is paying them, it's a fallacy to say some players 'understood' what playing for West Ham is all about. Oh, really, how about playing for half your salary then.
Thirdly, why is the no mark manager still employed, he is trying his best to get sacked, so do it. No striker starting at home ffs.

I agree. But if you look at recent history, there's an increasing prevalence of the teams that come up going straight back down unless they do heavy and smart recruitment in the season they come up.
The teams that go with the core of who they were promoted with go straight back down.
IMO the landscape has changed and the disparity between the two leagues has grown since the last time we were in the league below.

Re: West Ham United 25/26 relegation thread
Sullivan and the powers that be at the club deserve everything that is happening. They’ve run it like arkwrights corner shop, signing misfit players and managers as self appointed directors of football and what success they have stumbled upon they’ve pissed up the wall on even more bad decisions that have just compounded.
The fans deserve none of it and Supporting this club has been miserable. We so badly need rid of this poison and soon, but he ain’t going to sell up as a championship club with a lower valuation and take the loss. No, that megalomaniac thinks were worth twice what anyone would realistically pay, looking at our assets on paper. Hell want us back in the PL first but I just don’t see us bouncing straight back so we may be stuck with him. That is why staying up this season is so important as there is always a chance he sells as a PL chairman.

Hundreds of Millions wasted…
Over 50 strikers is just one example…
them many defenders and midfielders too…
Incompetent Chairman playing at Football Genius…

And the stadium remains a MASSIVE millstone around our necks.
The worst football ground in England. By a mile.

Re: West Ham United 25/26 relegation thread
Dare I suggest that’s what’s needed is a Pardew-style rebuild after we go down. We need to base the club around a group of young, ambitious British players who “get” the culture of the place - even if they grew up elsewhere.
All well and good having talented international players, of course. I’m certainly not saying we shouldn’t sign any! But too many of this crop just want the money. They’d just as easily play for Sunderland, Fulham or Leeds as us. The concept and reality of “West Ham” literally means nothing to them.
Train a few times a week, play badly on Saturdays, take the cheque and live the footballer’s life.
