It certainly feels that way Dreaming.  Fragile, brittle sums us up.  But also only having about 7 or 8 players who consistently meet the levels required in the PL and ultimately a very poor squad that had a lot of money wasted on it. Its not improved materially despite the money spent so for me the overriding issue has been disasterous recruitment. Not enough younger, faster, more athletic and physical players has been our downfall. Magassa, Fernandes, Diouf and to a lesser extent Summerville were the profile of player we shoukd have been recruiting 5 years ago.  4 managers have failed to revive our fortunes since 2022 ( conference win masked the league form for a bit ). A fifth wont imo and we just have to hope Sullivan at least listens to Max Hahn or even sees himself that investing in youth and using analysis of player stats has to be continued ( assuming that was the driver for recruiting the aforementioned younger players) . It has a much better chance of reviving our fortunes albeit longer term.   

Championship football will be ok except it means goimg to games more as most games wont be televised. 

The best thing to happen is Sullivan selling up if, as looks likely currently, we get relegated or failing that he steps down from day to day involvement but I suspect he will increase his “dead mans grip” on the club as he just wont be able to accept the huge loss in the value of his asset / shares.  The fan unrest and protests will continue as they should and we will likely spend a longer time than most expect out of the top flight.

Personally I believe us to be fucked. I am still optimistc for each game, and think maybe a change in our fortunes may see us through. Not really that optimistic for some kind of improvement but you never know.

I agree, we played ok v Villa and were unlikely to get anything v man city. 

What's not normal, and what I think has sent everyone in a meltdown is there's now a 5 point gap. I think we have to beat forest and wolves, not just one.

I will be pleasantly surprised if we survive. I just dont see a squad of real scrappers who will work themselves nto the ground everyday, lay their bodies on the line. We will need imho 2 strikers not one and they have to be good finishers or at of on of them. We also need a strong, athletic and aggressive leader at CB. I also think we need another centre midfielder with legs who can cover the ground because we will get injuries and only have players like Soucek, Guido and Irvine to come in ( I would prefer Earthy, Kante and Fearon but managers always seem to go for past reputation / experience ignoring the fact they are just too slow for todays PL). 

Im mentally prepared for the Championship now and only interested in the future, recruiting younger players, promoting more U21s and seeing the back of the mercenaries

The biggest problem is that the manager only knows how to set up to not lose football matches and not with the mindset of setting up from the start to win matches. If we drew every match until the end of the season, which we won't as he loses before a ball is kicked against the so called big teams, we would only have 32 points, relegated. Also, everyone banging on about the transfer window, why? The latest rumour is Strand Larsen from fucking Wolves, the team with 2 points, 9 goals in total of which he has scores err 1. Yep, that would really be a major coup wouldn't it. We need laughably 9 wins, almost a 50% win ratio from the remaining games, not very likely is it.

Next 5 games decide if we stay up or not.  Not writing us off yet but feels like we would need to double our wins tally for the season next 5 games which seems hopeful. 

Got to beat Wolves and Forest.  Lots of games coming up with a small squad. 

Nuno rotation and subs will probably mean Wolves away Irving and Rodriguez will start .Forest at home Hermadsen will be right back. 

We can hope, but for me after Spurs away we'll know if we're down for defo.

Any reason you are planning on a 10 man team next season?
Are you keeping a place open for yourself?

It's not an impossible task in fact far from it looking at the performances against Newcastle and  to some extent Villa however I do question whether we have the right manager for the battle ahead and also the character and leadership in the team to get us over the line when we need to really dig deep.

Another centre back is essential and a centre forward who can hold the ball up to compete with and complement Wilson.
