I'd say no to that. Bernard was very important to their sound but he's been dead 30 years, while Nile has kept going and is still high profile.

Weld is my second favourite live album.
Being with Crazy Horse allowed Neil Young to unleash an absolutely blisteringly wonderful guitar racket.
Best version of Like a Hurricane ever.

Tak.

Totally get you on that one, I was coming from the angle of a moderately interested fan. Anyone who is a big fan of INXS will know they were so much more than MH and a few mates but to the casual fan, Hutchence wooul d be the first name (and possibly) only that comes to mind.

That's a curious one. As far as I know Crazy Horse the band existed as a separate entity and Neil Young happened to do a lot of work with them. Not sure whether he was really a member or whether it was just a very long running collaboration? I don't think they were ever just his backing band either.

Anyone?

Although honourable mention for Marc Riley I think.😁
Mark E. Smith once said, "If it's me and your Granny on bongos, it's the Fall".

Riley wrote most of the tunes during the band's best period (78-82) but I reckon Steve Hanley made the biggest contribution to their sound (and somehow managed to stay in the band for 20 years).
He was right of course. I think I read once that there were more than 60 members of The Fall over the years!

A lot of people would say Bon Jovi but that does overlook Ritchie Sambora’s talent as a guitarist.  I personally felt Bon Jovi was a waste of his talent and he should have been in a better band.

Most people would say this about Adam and the Ants, but that overlooks Marco Pirroni’s contribution to the songwriting and Chris Hughes’ expertise as a drummer and producer.

Although I’m not into The The, weren’t they essentially Matt Johnson’s vehicle?
