Depends if you look like a fanny or not. Nobody ever tried to snatch my phone in London or anywhere else but I expect most of you wimps look like an easy target.

How is it ridiculous, they've literally had to paint lines on the streets warning people not to walk in them with their phones out as they're likely to get snatched, 100,000 were stolen last year, its a whole industry

I walked through London West End yesterday with my phone out.  It wasn't snatched.  It would appear that it can be done.

As a blanket statement for London, it's ridiculous. Obviously everyone exercises some care in certain areas which are rough or tourist hotspots or late at night but a bit of common sense goes a long way. It's hardly any different to most other big global cities.

Looks like something he’d need.
