And as a contrast the 2025 version, with added sax, trombone and less flash and more groove.
Unfortunately it does also highlight that his voice isn't what it once was, but few singers escape this sort of deterioration decades into their career.

Had this on vinyl back in the day:
The absolute bollocks of a live album.

I was a big fan before the commercial success, it's a shame the brothers moved on when they did. I know mark's brother, and the others have done a great job but it was hard to find a tighter band than that original four
This incarnation has now been together a while now and is definitely as tight as a gnat's chuff. Mark is totally locked in with Pete Ray Biggin on drums now. Hence my Love Games comment. They both play around with it but are 100% in tune with each other.
One thing that this version also has going for it is the now permanent three piece brass section which is sensational and lifts the whole sound.
Nathan is a very versatile guy. I had a very dull 'muso' chat with him down at Andertons about guitar pickups a while back. He was very polite and pretended he was interested. Admire his work with Frost too. Another bunch of incredible musicians.

Saw them play the whole album last night on its anniversary tour.
Love Games was still the best song of the night though...

Not really my thing but my Son-in-law is a good friend of the drummer and is off to see them tonight so I thought I would have a listen - not bad I thought

30 years ago i never could have imagined that i am going to see the Pharcyde in Cork next week. Theyre probably quite suprised as well.
Also loved this track they did with the Brand New Heavies back in 1992
That's a great album, very underrated. Still gets played a few times a year in my house.
They are touring the 30th anniversary of labcabincalifornia but hopefully they'll do soul flower and a couple off bizarre ride. Does seem a bit surreal that they're playing 2 hours drive from me at a small festival in Ireland.

Luo Reed's Metal Machine Music, Part 3.
Strange, this album; it sounds like it should irritate the fuck out of me, but, for me, it's akin to the early days of trying to listen to Radio Luxembourg (on 208m medium wave) or some short wave music station from god knows where - my brain keeps thinking "Is a that a tune emerging?", so I keep listening.
I never got to hear this album. It was infamous in its day. Some said it was unlistenable. Others that it was a piss take contractual obligation album. Thanks foor mentioning it. After all these years I will hunt it down and solve the mystery.

Van Morrison.
I've only just recently discovered him and his music. Surprisingly I knew quite a few of his hits already but there are lots of unknown gems in his catalogue.
