Adama Traoré | Signed

West Ham United is pleased to confirm the signing of Spain international winger Adama Traoré.

The 30-year-old joins the Hammers from Fulham for an undisclosed fee, reuniting him with Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo, who he worked under previously at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Strong, quick and able to create and score goals, Adama is a proven Premier League performer who will add experience and quality to Nuno’s attacking firepower.

Born in Barcelona, Adama came through Barça’s famed Academy before moving to the Premier League with Aston Villa in 2015. Since then, he has amassed 262 Premier League appearances, 14 goals and 25 assists for Villa, Middlesbrough, Wolves and Fulham.

“I’m so happy to be here, so happy to help the team the maximum I can and show my quality,” said Adama, who will wear the No17 shirt.

“I've been seeing West Ham for a long time. It's a massive club, a massive fanbase. I've been watching since I was young, when I watched a film about West Ham. I know about the fans and how much passion they have.

“My mentality is always to do better. It's always to improve as a player, to help the team as much as I can and I always say, if I'm the same person as yesterday, it's one day lost.

“I love the challenges. I think, of course, we have to go game by game. And this is what we're going to do, trying to do our best. I think everything comes from belief. And I believe we're going to achieve what we're looking for.”

Adama spent three of his best seasons with Nuno between 2018-21, twice helping Wolves finish seventh in the Premier League and reach the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. The Hammers’ Head Coach is relishing the opportunity to link up with the winger again.

“We are very happy to welcome Adama to the Club,” said Nuno. “He is someone I obviously know well from our time together at Wolves, and I am looking forward to working with him again.

“Adama is someone who knows the Premier League very well, and his unique qualities as a player will help us between now and the end of the season.

“He will give us a different option in attacking areas. He is also very motivated to fight for us and ready to bring energy, commitment and determination to our challenge.”

Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Adama and his family to East London, and wish him every success for his career in Claret and Blue.

Traore is what he is. A powerhouse with pace and little technique.

to expect him to work miracles is unrealistic.

does he add value to the squad. IMO, yes.

Everything we expected. A top heavy headless chicken who will add very little.  Ots defence, keeper and defensive midfield thars still an issue assuming Nuno had now written off Potts and Magassa.

Yeah. I think we saw plenty of evidence as to why he's been a barely used Fulham sub

Fucking stupid signing.  Ok, he’s cheap, but he’s nothing but a clapped out Michail Antonio tribute act.

In all honesty, for 2 mil I don't have a problem with this signing.
Obviously not going to score a shed load, but give's us an out when it's backs against the wall, and our defence is, being polite, not the greatest. As Leftfield  would say, 'Release The Pressure'.
An impact sub at best. As Antonio would now be.
Not all bargain basement signings turn out to be gash.
Balon Dawson, anyone?

Hopefully Bowen and this lad give that mop headed cսnt the run around on Saturday.

He also produced an absolute pearler of a cross for Jiminez to score against us for Wolves a few seasons ago. It's the first goal here. Feels weird to be posting an oppo goal but there you go.

I thought it was Jimenez who scored it but it was Neto. Trying to find the goal, I noticed Jimenez fucking loves playing against us. 7 goals in 12 games.

I think he came on and kind of destroyed us if I remember rightly.
(but isn’t that the West Ham way lol… do nothing against anyone else but play us and we make u look like Pele.. )

He scored the only goal, very late on and after coming on as a sub, when we played Wolves at home in 2018/19

Arose from some typical miscontrol by that hopeless cսnt Carlos Sanchez (who Pellegrini bafflingly rated) and Traore outstripped him and Cresswell and shot from the edge of the area.

It was our 4th straight defeat at the beginning of that season

Yes he did he came on with ten minutes to go ran us ragged and scored the winner with the last kick of the game

I'm surprised at how many people seem ok with this signing.

It's another in  a long line of awful 'PL experienced' players that will end up doing absolutely nothing. Like Wayne Bridge and Robbie Keane the last time we got relegated.

Yes our defence is woeful

But we are currently operating with only Summerville & Bowen as wingers in the entire squad, so we need rotation / sub options for them

Traore will be an exciting option off the bench of us in reality, and provides some cover

more players needed still though

Yes, I think the opposition will be less likely to push everyone forward when you have him (and Summerville) on the break.

Arguably, as he will probably allow us to push a bit more up the pitch in the last 15-20 mins of games and relieve some pressure.
