New UK rules for Expats who are Dual Citizens

This is fucking madness😔

Thought i would post as a few expats on here, expect in the same boat as me!

The UK Government is introducing rules saying anyone Born in the UK who now lives overseas and has taken dual citizenship and passport of that country, can ONLY travel to the UK if they have a British passport!Ā

British and Irish dual citizens bear costly brunt of UK passport changes - ABC News

My UK passport expired in 2009 and as i had an Australian passport as well couldn't see the point in paying for 2, living this side of the world the Australian makes things easier, going to NZ and other regional countries visa free etc, but now if i want to come to the UK i need get a British passport again but as it expired so long ago the steps i need to take are fucking insane.

Be easier to go to France and get a Dinghy across the channel, may even get free hotel accommodation as well 🤣

Yes, I guess I do look down on some peopleĀ
I think the idea of a ā€˜Royal family’ is a medieval anachronism that should have died out decades ago.
BUT a majority (albeit a declining majority) of the British people want to keep it so I accept that. Like you I’m sure believe the government is also in place by the choice of the people so accept their legitimacyĀ
And the flag (of England) has been hijacked by mouth breathing racists & fascists emboldened by Nazi NigelĀ
The flag of England wasn't "hijacked" by anyone. The state willingly and pro-actively gave it away without so much as a whimper.

That same state entity show no interest in reclaiming the symbol of the nation for which they are paid to serve, so the people who do pay their wages through their taxes are putting themselves out, at their own personal expense, to do a job that the populations of no other country on the planet has to do.

hack? no, he's made some great films. I've met and had genuine Aussie mates, none were remotely snobbish, self loathing or looked down on people (which just about covers every aspect of you). I fucking hate the royal family (german cunts, but not as much as having a President Blair) and the flag was hijacked long ago by those parasitic vermin in Westminster (watch any press briefing).Ā

No, what is infuriating about you is that you don't want to be British, but want a British passport, don't want to pay for it and blame it on Brexit even though Brexit has nothing to do with you if you're not really British. Do us and yourself a favour, forget all this passport trouble and never enter this country.

Surely that's far fairer than forcing every taxpayer in the UK to pay for such events, even if they never have and never will visit Spain?

I have an Irish passport as well which I use most of the time unless I'm going to England.. I was shocked to hear that uk passport holders have to scan fingerprints to enter Spain. Like WTF for a week in magaluf. I suppose in a few years time there will be no passports, just your fingerprint on a reader or iris scan. I'm sure the illegals will still be able to swan around as they please.Ā

Lucky I got my shinny blue one only last month as it was expiring in April and many countries inc Belgium won't let you in unless you have a least 3 months left on it. Entire process took less than 3 weeks and that is it being sent abroad. Very quick online. The photos have a code now and enter that and it's plain sailing.Ā

Was reading today that a Home Office spokesman said you might be able to use an expired British passport alongside your current FOREIGN one to prove that you can enter
That would be at the discretion of the carrier thoughĀ
That’s if you don’t want to pay for a new British one (Ā£94?) or that certificate which is Ā£569 I believeĀ

Having and paying for two passports is not needed
Obviously having a British passport in Europe is less advantageous now given the Brexit imbecilesĀ

I don’t really describe myself as English or Australian
As I grew up in Australia my first sporting exposure was to WA & Australian cricket so am hardly going to switch to the Kiwi controlled bacon & egg tie wearing chinless cunts & the Barmy Army dullards
Yep cause the average Aussie cricket fan is an intellectual not a beer soaked pissed redneck bogan wearing either Jack Daniels, Ford or Holden attire while wearing an empty KFC bucket as a hat.Ā

Was also reading about this, even the airlines etc are kicking off about it! you have to answer question, many of which are confusing, provide proof or declare things like where you are staying, have enough money etc, then once done, you then procced to immigration control for a officer to then check the info!!!!!🤣
This part is actually straightforward Sydders, I've seen vids online of the kiosks, it asks you do you have somewhere to stay, do you have enough funds to support your trip, do you have health insurance, do you have a return ticket - you just press yes to all of them and on you go, and of course scan your PP, have your photo taken and fingerprints of your 4 fingers on your right hand. The main purpose of it is to get your biometrics. It's good for 3 years.
Have to do this in May at City Airport hopefully queues won't be too bad then.Ā

Friends then told me they ticked the box and renewed the British anyway
I did hear of cases of people who did that were refused re entry into Australia as their passport was technically invalid
Now we have these cases where people need to keep paying for both having let one lapse
Personally I am happy to be in London and travel regularly to Australia. Probably more so when I retire
Am off to Perth next month btw
So for brevity... You decided being British was for you not Aussie.. šŸ˜‚Ā

Its only partly implemented from October last yearĀ  but in April it will be 100%, so affects non EU citizens, could be carnage by the sounds of things! Hopefully they see sense and water it down or find another way rather than at the airport or train station, you do it within 72 hours online etc as places like NZ do.Ā

https://www.independent.co.uk/travel/ne ... 17911.html

Europe’s airports and airlines have joined forces to demand that theĀ EUĀ suspend the plannedĀ full implementation of the entry-exit system (EES)Ā or risk waiting times for British passengers of four hours or more in summer.

The much-delayed EU digital borders scheme requires ā€œthird-country nationalsā€, including UK passport holders, toĀ provide fingerprints and facial biometricsĀ the first time they cross a Schengen area border.

For subsequent entries and exits, one biometric is sufficient.

The EES began to be rolled out last October. The 29 Schengen member states have progressive targets for the proportion of non-EU citizens screened at the frontiers they operate.

Sydney would know surely as he would have done it recently, Sven wouldn't cause he's 100% English šŸ˜‰Ā
Ā
Ā
My Australian passport shows my place of birth as Ealing, as i had to send my birth certificate, so im in the system as UK born,Ā

Crazy thing is my expired UK passport has my place of birth as London! yeah yeah, Ealing is a London borough but that hasn't stopped the UK passport office wanting my birth certificate (which says Acton in the borough of Ealing) but had my British passport have said Ealing (or Aussie had London), then i wouldn't need to send my birth certificate. apparently, something to do with documents not matching, Go figurešŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Still waiting for a replacement birth Cert to arrive got a certified copy but they wont accept that, so the same office i have to apply for passport, send me my replacement certificate, i then send it back to them with application.

And crossing fingers common sense prevails🤨

Quite a few horror story's, more woman than men, who got married, divorced etc so name changes etc etc or kids who arrived on parents passport which operantly a lot did in the 50,s and 60,s and passport office wanting info about the long lost passports of long dead parents, would imagine the passport/document dept of births, deaths and marriages will be swamped.

This has all the hallmarks of the authorities wishing to be seen to be "doing something" to get a handle on immigration rates & numbers.

As usual, they've targeted the soft, easy options that will do nothing to restrict the undesirables streaming into the west - those responsible for committing crime(s) once they're in the system and have free access to society and it's vulnerable.

I assume the same authorities are looking to combat criminal activities at the fundamental level rather than just tick a few lefty/liberal "look at me" boxes.

When applying for Aussie passport you have to declare where you're born and which other nationalities you have, also any passport number from UK plus Australian citizenship etc, so as all electronic I suppose it must flag straight away that you're British.Ā

What I don't get is how do they know your a British citizen? Why can't you just meet requirements to travel into UK on your other nationality and forget about the British part?Ā

Ā
Because it states in your passport that you were born in the UK, apparently.
