Grasshoppers vs West Ham | Pre-Season | 19.7.25 | Match Thread
So the circus rolls back into town, with our first Pre-Season friendly of the 25/26 campaign.
Ol' Cock Piss Potter finally given a "full preseason" to turn his crab football into a thing of beauty that we can all behold. The commitment to the 'Wing Back System' shaping the squad in a way that anyone to follow him will likely need to rip up and start again.
Anyway....with 29 players out in Germany, it's likely to be a substitute-laden shitfest, with shoddy camera work and uninterested commentary from the media guy on the official site.
But also a chance to see Diouf, Potts, Orford, Marshall, Cornet, Fullkrug, Aguerd, and maybe build an understanding of what is to come.
So strap in, remember it's a "fitness exercise" and we can all have a row about what it all means when they turn us over 3-1 and we're told they're "3 weeks ahead of us in their Pre-Season preparations".

Re: Grasshoppers vs West Ham | Pre-Season | 19.7.25 | Match Thread
Wasn’t terrible first half. Looked like playing with a bit more tempo and intent. Bowen looks ready to start the season tomorrow. Lots down the right but not really able to get Cornet or Fullkrug into the game. Only two CBs
JWP more positive in play than last season and far less sideways stuff. We didn’t absolutely melt when they pressed even though it wasn’t a crazy press.
Guido looked like he wanted too much time. We really do need more in the middle of the park.
Good to see Paqueta and Magic Diouf and a few of the youngsters here.

Ah, lovely. Thanks! Seems a bit archaic to set it to 480. Much better now.

Irving lol
Still puzzled how he was dropped after Chelsea.
Not a world beater but decent and better than some of the others

Don't mind keeping Irving as he has something about him but we need to get Cornet, Ridriguez and JWP off the books asap.
Hoping they are only starting today to be in the shop window.

Re: Grasshoppers vs West Ham | Pre-Season | 19.7.25 | Match Thread
GK Areola
3 at CB Todibo Kilman Scarles
2 at WB Wan Bissaka R, Cornet L
2 in the middle JWP and Rodrigues
Bowen IF R, Irving IF L
Fullkrug sole central striker
If he can get Bowen and Irving coming inside at different times to provide 2 target men for the other one (out of Irving and Bowen) then the two wing backs can fill the gap. In fact, having Irving drift inside a lot would allow Cornet to push up more as he can actually cross with his left foot, with Scarles covering behind him.

Will hopefully catch a bit of the second half.
Good to be back COYI
It's a parody post, pulling together many of the statements made since the start of his reign.
I'm neutral currently. Hoping for the best, will be unsurprised by the worst....but look forward to enjoying the ride none the less.
