I hope Nuno has gone to watch the U21's in the last week or one of his support staff have,he would have seen how good Earthy and Marshall really are. He would have also seen the 1st team and seen how bad they have been especially in midfield and the back 4. He should then be able  to see that Marshall is a better option than Fulkrug or Wilson from the start , Then see that Potts can play instead of JWP.

On the plus side we cannot be as bad from set pieces and crosses. He may be able to get at least something respectable out of Kilman, having done so before, or at least know what he needs in a partner. The language connection with Fernandes and Paqueta might be helpful.

Based on that TV bit I make Dawson right over Merson, at least as to whether it's a good job for Nuno. He's saying that Nuno took Forest as far as they could go, while West Ham are "a big, big club, way underachieving".

Personally I think Nuno should consider himself lucky to be at this club and given he plays the kind of football that Sullivan seems to prefer, he'll probably be in the job for a while if Moyes and Allardyce's time here is anything to go by.

Given the last permanent manager we had who left of their own accord was Harry Redknapp it is not a particularly remarkable acheivement.
Before that it was Ron Greenwood I think.
