Fights that would have had a different outcome if both fighters were in their prime.

I’ll go Hagler v Leonard and Tyson v Hollyfield.

Who you got?

I only just realised Mitchell Smith won a European belt on the undercard Saturday.

I know Mitchell and his family and watched him develop into a fine prospect at super featherweight before it all went to his head and he ended getting banged up

Every time he tells the story of his subsequent weight gain he seems to add a stone or two and it's now eighteen and a half stone now but nonetheless to lose that weight and get back to challenging for titles is pretty remarkable.

At 32 he has little time to lose and needs to get down to superfeather again as he is to small for a lightweight but if he can hold it together could well be in some entertaining fights going forward.

A showman who leaves it all in the ring.

If the tenth round had still 30 seconds left Wardley’s assault would have lead to the ref stopping the fight. As it was Parker went into the eleventh round still visibly shaken by the effect of the battering taken at the end of the tenth.

Did the referee stop the fight too early? No but his timely intervention prevented Wardley having the satisfaction of decking his opponent.

Yep he was clearly gassed with punches that weren't doing much damage at that point with Parker soaking up all the pressure with his guard still up defending it. He collapsed in sheer exhaustion whilst Parker argued with the Ref about what he was playing at. He punched himself out and it prevented Parker from having his turn after weathering the storm just as they both did throughout the fight. It's what was making it so fascinating to watch and yet Howard does what he's always done jumping in for too early unnecessarily spoiling the fight in the end.
Parker hadn't thrown a shot in 20 odd seconds, he took nearly 30 shots without throwing, he then threw two desperate swings that land near Wardleys arms, he then got hit again and stumbled back onto the ropes and then got hit by 3 shots, first and last weren't clean, but the hook landed crisp and was a decent shot.

All this "Wardley was gassed" is bollocks, they were both tired but Parker wasn't coming back he was getting hurt and was gonna get more hurt.

Too early for me, given the nature of the fight. Foster is the master of it.
They were the first he'd thrown and were just wild swings out of desperation.

Foster was it? Course it was. Same as it ever was...
It may have been a few seconds too early, but it wasn't changing what was happening, he hadn't thrown a shot in over 20 seconds and was taking punishment, the stoppage was coming. Rather a bit to early than a bit to late, it's hardly a bad one.

Covered rounds 10,11 and 12 and grouped on it as well, so had a good night on Wardley.

As stated earlier in thread, Parker just isn't all that. The Wilder fight raised his stock (But Wilder is a one punch trick) lucky against Zhang and the less said about Bakole fight the better. People got taken in a bit too much by it.

Thing is he survived Parkers punches which takes some doing. Geezer's head is made of granite. He's a very dangerous opponent for anyone. Love his heart and desire to somehow keep going to land devastating blows of his own.

Wardley cartainly is a tough bastard and supremely fit.
It was a surprsingly good fight.
His dodge to the right punch avoiding move will need a rethink if/when he face Usyk as that will bring right on to Usyk's left hand.

Last night I watched the Parker Wardley fight. It was a cracker with both men going for it. Parker performed  as I expected but this tussle revealed just how good Wardley is at taking a punch let alone dishing it out. Parker hit Wardley with some blows that would have likely stopped Dubois and Joshua in their tracks but his opponent weathered these storms to hand out punishment of his own.

Well worth watching.

By all means seek to justify your opinion but you need to do research before simply denigrating Minter. He was a good fighter on his day and btw he lasted just as long against Hagler going three rounds like Thomas Hearns.

And regarding brawlers can you list some other boxers in that category so that we have a further laugh.
Hagler won fights because he was a human punch bag. No class in that.

That is good enough for me to discount any chance of Hagler being a brawler.
He also complained about him using his head in their fight hence the bleeding.

Oh and the great Alan Minter who could really compare Hagler to the others he fought like Hearns, Leonard and Duran....oh wait a minute.

You can box for points, see Leonard, or slug it out, see Hagler, both styles are valid.

Almost 3 rounds of mahem. For me Hagler was not a good boxer just a brawler with an iron jaw. He used his head and elbows a ,lot and got away with it.
