I think it's been about 6 years since Fear Inoculum already!
Yes mate, August 2019.
Still, it was 13 years between 10,000 Days and Fear Incoculum, so I live in hope that they'll release something new before I retire (in 2033) 🤣
I'll be happy if they release something new before I die!😁

Hoping that the APC live activity next year doesn't kick the next Tool album even further down the road (yeah, I know it will...)🤷‍♂️

Not too sure about that mate. Read an interview with Adam (iirc) where he said they know they're not getting any younger and don't want to leave the break between albums as long as the last two. That interview was about 18 months ago mind 🤣

I'm sure that's the intention, it's just knowing them it could still end up being a long gap by the way they operate. I think the first bass player gave that as a key reason he left the band - he just couldn't cope with how long it took them to do anything.

This one could also belong in the better cover version thread but not sure that it is.
It stands alone as brilliant on its own terms.

Never said there was son.
However, if you were to take the time to understand the story behind both albums you'd perhaps understand why I mention this.
This is not a feelgood story. It's southern gothic.

Ethel Cain - Preachers Daughter

One of the best albums I've ever heard.
Religion. Abuse. Sexuality. Happiness. Canibalism (yes, really). Death. And resurrection.
Not 'easy' listening by any means, but fucking hell, rewarding.

Also, absolutely no 'bangers'. Thank fuck.

Theres fuck all wrong with bangers . . .
i just saw that Ethel is BBC 6 Music artist in residence this week, so might be of interest.
