at the moment I think we have less than a 40% chance, but this weekend could change everything if we get a point.  

Before our two wins, we would have been 9-1 to stay up.

It's probably fair comment that we appear to be catching them at a good time, but, and yes football fans are fickle, last month this board was predicting we'd lose to the likes of Fulham, Forest, Wolves etc, but now we're going to win at Chelsea? You never know, but let's keep it real, it's pretty unlikely.

I predicted we'd beat Sunderland btw, before being accused of going all Sir Alf.

I don't necessarily disagree, Rossal. I'd love us to be a club who identifies these managers that pop out of nowhere, but if we sacked him, it'd be more of the same.

Funny enough, if we somehow manage to stay up, I reckon he'd turn us into a top half team.

Love the positivity. Of course hope you're all right. 

Just not seeing it myself, and we've got to play all of the top 6 teams in the league. So many variables are different compared to in the past for me, and the teams we've overtaken in the past have been proper pony, I don't see anyone like that who are just above us. But let's hope I'm very wrong on that.

 

When we were shit you were optimistic and wanted to give Nuno more time etc...... now we've won 3 in a row and looking the best all season you've gone full circle! 

 

When he very first came in, I wasn't calling for him to be sacked after 3 games, no. And I'm not now, to be honest. I always at least try to be optimistic, especially when managers first come in, and back then there was time to pull it around. I thought as well, given the situation, he was probably the best bet in terms of who our owner would employ, or at least on paper.

However, to then go into the Fulham game at home, absolute pivotal game, and play 4 centre mids with no striker, it done for us. That was the moment I was convinced we are going down, and the next 3 games that followed sealed it. In my opinion.

For the record, none of the things we do/have done as a club would be what I would do, but I try to judge everything on it's merits. I don't try to score points just by being negative all the time, or positive all the time, like some do, just for the sake of it.

As I say, desperate to be wrong on this one, let's hope so.

The Brentford and Leeds experiment will be just as much to blame as the 1 point from 12 if we were to go down in my opinion. There was justification for us to bin him after Leeds, and who knows we may have more points now. 

But i hear you regarding the other points, and yes lets hope you are wrong and we somehow shithouse our way out it. It feel like as soon as we consign ourselves to the championship the next few games then give us the most hope of staying up.

A team that had our best keeper for 20 years in goal, a strong defence, the current best midfielder in the Premier League protecting them. We currently have the brainless AWB, Mavro, Todibo who can't head the football, and 2 young left backs.

Then why were we so shit over the first 23 games?

I wanted Moyes sacked that season, btw, as I thought he was under performing with the players at his disposal. That squad was much better than the current one.

We also had 19 points from 23 games in 13/14 under Allardyce. Finished in 14th.

We also only had 24 points from the first 27 games in the season Moyes took over from Pellegrini. Mind you, the lockdown was probably our saviour that year and I doubt there's another of those on the cards.

We're no more shit than we were in 2002/03, 2006/07 and, as we now know, 2022/23 too.

While every season is different from another there are still 20 teams who play each other with 3 points at stake. Teams can still go on dreadful runs. I doubt most fans expect West Ham to get out the current fix but it’s only natural to hope they can or what’s the point. 

If the West Ham squad in 2006/7 was so great how come they had only 20 points after 29 games? At that point we were 10 points from safety. If there was a difference, it’s that more teams were involved in the relegation scrap. Fulham, for example, only got 11 points from their last 15 games and may well have been relegated in place of Sheffield United had Liverpool not fielded a weakened side before a European game. 

We were dead lucky at Blackburn. But those games can still happen today.

If it's so different,  why are Wolves rivalling worst ever seasons, why were Soton so shit last year. Everything is relative. If everyone has £30m players then the playing field remains as level as it ever was. 

I was at Brammall Lane for that 3-0 loss in 2007 and there wasn't a person in the stadium - at either end - who thought we weren't relegated... and Tevez was dreadful that day.
