Hello Hammers! I want to thank everyone at the club: staff, employees, and players, for the years I’ve spent here. These have been unique, memorable moments. Some happy, some not. But I always tried to be my best self - and we all know why that’s no longer possible. Some scars I’ll carry for the rest of my life, and one made me realise I can’t keep fighting against something that’s no longer for me.
I refused offers from rival teams to stay in Europe. I never asked to leave. I did ask to return home, and I hope someday you’ll understand that nothing is more comforting than going back home. I need this for my mental health, my wife, and my children.
I need to find joy in football again, and regain my peace. I realised that here I’d still need to fight battles that aren’t mine anymore. It was never about the club’s current situation. When I arrived, we faced similar challenges, but ultimately won a title that will forever be a part of history.
I know some won’t remember me fondly, and I’m sorry - but that pass to Bowen came from someone who stayed true to his dream.
I’m going home, but I’ll always support you. Thank you for everything, West Ham.The language and the use of em dashes make that look like ChatGPT wrote it.
ChatShit probably kept asking him whether he was sure this is a good idea to try and butter up West Ham fans who can smell bullshit a mile off as he types that guff midway through a perilous relegation battle.
I think ChatShit's covering for him...
Nope — I didn’t help Lucas Paquetá write that
But I will say: it reads like a pretty classic modern football farewell statement — emotional, reflective, carefully diplomatic, and clearly written (or at least polished) with PR/media people involved.
Most players at that level don’t publish something like this entirely on their own.

I don't know about that, Bowen is a bit of a one-trick pony. It's a great trick but until last week, teams who had him sussed would show him onto the line and that was the end of that.
The right-footed cross for the goal at the weekend was great, so I'm crossing my fingers that he is now a two-trick pony.
Paqueta is much more versatile and a better tackler, obviously both suited to different positions but if you're looking for The West Ham Way then you don't sell Kudus and Paqueta and keep Bowen. Perhaps if Paqueta is replaced by someone with a range of passing to free up Bowen in different ways it will end up being a positive move. A Carrick type, but we've finally got rid of Rodrigues so I doubt we'll be looking for a slower central midfielder to replace a flair player. Even Coufal was more West Ham Way for a defender than all of our current ones. Not that I think we should have kept him, it's just that in our desperation to stay up we're losing our identity. I'd sooner go down than that, but in this age of football we would lose all the flair if that happened anyway.

Even if he's the greatest player we ever had, he's been a massive cսnt for wanting away, and dictating where he goes to, when we are at our lowest point.

- He scored somel great goals

- He performed some outrageous tricks and flicks
- He tackled hard

Pre-betting trial, Paqueta was in tremendous form and worth the entrance money. He's still been a key component in a team that has been horrible to watch since then....we shouldn't forget he's lacked the runners and the central forward making the movements to feed the ball to, and worked under a succession of managers who were frankly anti-football.
Was he consistent? No. Was he ultimately a bit disappoint? Yes. But did he give us the kind of moments that only a player like that can, and are what makes football the emotional, enjoyable experience it can be? Absolutely.
I'll miss West ham having a player in the sqaud like Lucas Paqueta...the soert of player that other teams covet. That attracts players that just want to play with a player like that. The most talented player in the squad. We're a poorer setup for him not being with us anymore.
Absolutely. Proper West Ham player in my opinion. The betting scandal and some shit signings in midfield didn't help him. Good luck to him at home in Brazil

While I agree with the sentiment of the above, I can't think of any players we have attracted because Lucas was there that have made a difference.

I'd agree with that. Not the same level as Di Canio maybe, but on the whole I liked him. Worked hard, too.

I agree with his worth pre betting trial. But don't think he was anything like Di-Canio nor do I think he will he be remembered for anything other than the pass to Bowen.
The most talented player in the squad? In terms of what he was capable of, perhaps. But in terms of his all round game, eg passing, then I wouldn't be so sure.
I certainly don't think we are poorer without him. If we are then it's certainly not discernible in the results when he isn't playing. My view is he has been liability for the last year or so and I am glad to see the back of him. Being the most capable player doesn't change that.

Re: Crapaqueta
He got way too much credit (he deserves some) for that pass. It was Bowen who did most of the work by signalling he was willing to run in to that gaping space in behind and then the rest was all on Bowen to score it under pressure from a defender and an on rushing Keeepr.
For the most part he has been a let down with an awful professionalism/attitude to jump ship when the shit hits the fan when all the Club ever did was stand by him unequivocally. We deserved better treatment than that and in my opinion he did get caught out being a greedy cսnt with his pals through the bookies.

Re: Crapaqueta
Good riddance
It's always been all about him and now the rat deserts the fast sinking ship which is indicative of his character or lack of it.
He never gave a shit about West ham and would have pissed off to city long ago if it wasn't for the betting enquiry.
His deliberate sending off against Liverpool on a day we lost a true club legend and the epitome of everything Lucas isn't was disrespectful in the extreme and in my view he wasn't fit to wear the shirt after that..
Plenty of people make excuses for him and point to his undoubted talent being a positive but overall the risk to reward ratio when he played was to the teams detriment.
A mercenary and prima donna who got an easy ride compared to the stick others got for wanting to get away.

We hadn't won a league game without Paqueta before today... Anything can be twisted like that... They're all in it together and it isn't down to any individuals. He missed 5 games in 2025. We won 2 and only lost 1 of them.
He missed 2 games in 2026 so far, we won both of them.
Winning 4 and losing only 1 out of the 7 he hasn't played is significant for a team that has won so few games over the last year or so.
I know it's a simplistic take, but I have long held that his play (losing possession, diving all the time) undermines the team.He also missed the Wolves game easily our worst performance of the season... Selective facts... So easy to pick games.. We also didn't win other games he missed... It's utter nonsense.. Not just him but any single player...
Won't be long before you can say "we never got relegated the whole time Paqueta played for us, and now he's left were in The Championship"
I'm gutted it didn't work out. He's far too skilful for the iterations of West Ham he was part of and the safety net coward managers. I didn't even want to sell him to Manchester City for £85million plus Palmer. Now a shadow of the player he was then, half because of the Betway nonsense and half because we beat it out of him.

Re: Crapaqueta
You always hoped and expected more from him especially with consistency. There was the odd moment of genius but really far too far and few between. He didn't become worth his place in the team by the end. You were always waiting for something special that so rarely actually came.
As I said on another thread, I think he checked out as soon as the Man City move fell apart and the FA came for him. To add there's no doubt the refs absolutely marked his card (no pun intended) and he got consistently treated very poorly by them.

Generally flattered to decieve and delivered very little end product.
Probably was at fault for as many goals as he scored.
his silly hair and silly dancing will not be missed.

He also was consistently the player who could progress us into the final third.
Yep agree with that, he was decent between around half way and up to the final third but rarely did anything in the final third. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. Piss poor from a so called creative playmaker.

Say what you like about Paqueta, but I'm much less confident in our ability to score a penalty now! Bowen got lucky the other day, and he's not nearly as good at pens as Lucas was.

Quite an unusual press from the club, suppose they just want to get their side of the story over for fans to understand what happened, even though it was pretty much an open secret anyway.
I have no emotion either way about him leaving, mainly because I didn't rate the show pony. A couple of tricks on the half way line ain't of any use, he was clearly incapable of doing anything in the final third at this level, barely laid a glove on defenders aside from the vey odd fleeting moment. Glad we got good dough for him.

Re: Crapaqueta
Agreed axeman ( he has failed at West Ham but better having him than no one ) assuming we are not going to replace him this window ( even a loan). Which at this moment looks to be whats gonna happen.
Re: Crapaqueta
Never lived up the hype / reputation. He failed in Italy as a number 10, then was successful with Lyon as a number 8. Rarely played that role at West Ham under successive managers and then subjected to a betting trial ( by media ) that lasted 2 years.
In a much better team he may achieve some consistency but for us he failed is the harsh truth. Not necessarily all of his own doing but nonetheless a failed stint overall imo.
