You cannot compare Soucek with him because they are very different players and thankfully very different characters with very different morals.

Big Tom pound for pound has contributed far more in blood sweat tears headed clearances and goals than the fraid Paqueta ever did but of course he never made that pass to Bowen that the former is living off

His leaving piece was as I expected, very narcissistic.

I thank him for the sublime pass that put Bowen through to win us the cup - but since then he's done nothing of note and am delighted that we got 40 million for him.

That's a League 2 team. I think we're better having 1 Soucek than none, but you wouldn't want any more. Him at left wing would be a gift for the opposition. A team of Paquetas would easily stay in the Championship.

Are we putting them in goal as well? I might need to think about this again if so.

I've heard it all now, Soucek is a fraction of the player Paqueta is, and he's already been crying about his mental health before leaving. Nothing against either of them, but what you're saying is plain wrong.

Yes Soucek represents the West Ham way. It's class when that combines with skills like Paqueta had, but we don't get too many of them these days.

Mental elf is an easy cop out nowadays. Not that it might not be true, but It’s literally a free pass for being a bit of a cսnt in any walk of life.

Souček will never have the quality that Paquetá undoubtedly has, but he’s twice the man he’ll ever be, and I’m much happier seeing him pull on a shirt, with a smile on his face, even if he’s battling his own demons too.

Note to club : stay away from South Americans in the future. They’re generally agg in the long run.

And Souceks mental health is well documented now although at the time he was struggling he kept it to himself and never used as an excuse during that period or use it as an excuse to get away from the Club. If anything he used it to inspire him to do better and to come back fighting. Like you say, twice the man than Paqueta.

I liked Paqueta and appreciate his statement. Don't care if he didn't write it, he approved it and posted it or whatever. He was a frustrating player, and on the whole it didn't work towards the end. I enjoyed a lot of his play and he gave us quite a bit of enjoyment.
Have to acknowledge good time for him to go, as we are finding we can do well without him.

Flattered to deceive most of the time when he wasn’t diving..  Glad he’s gone -we’ll be a better team without him and will hopefully allow Fernandez to show what he can do now.

When he blags needing to move to protect his mental health, how about everyone else still at the Clubs mental health when constantly having to put up with his petulance, poor performances and highly suspect betting scandal? Sorry forgot, that shit only works one way when a spoilt player is desperate to leave on mega money and all the trappings.

Thanks for all the times you lost the ball, fell over and sat on the ground waving your hands at the referee while the other team launched a dangerous counter attack. Thanks for the rediculously petulant red card against Liverpool, when we were only a goal down. And thanks for deciding to not make yourself available for the last three games because you were sad.

Your beard is shit by the way. And you’re a rubbish dancer.

Possibly should've posted this on the WAYLTN thread:

A GOOD player on his day. A potentially EXCELLENT player on his day.
Unfortunately, those days turned into weeks if not months.
Like most others that wear the C and B, think he always saw us as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. That cսnt Kudus springs to mind.
Didn't really help himself with the 'staying for the remainder of the season' shit, only to want to fuck off like a rat up a drain pipe as soon as.
Still, I wish him no ill will (if for no other reason than THAT pass in Prague).
Yet another 'could've been', consigned to memory.
It's the West Ham way.

Yeah I can understand some of the stuff he's saying obviously directed at the FA and others and I have limited sympathy for how he's been treated and how it probably affected him but some of it is just bollocks about never wanting to leave. Also 'Not wanting to leave but wanting to return home' is absolute spin at it's best.

So long and thanks for all the fish

Sounds like he wants to get the hell out of dodge before any new evidence appears.

I noted that he didn’t mention the fans in his farewell statement.

Im glad he is leaving and even happier we got a chunk of change for him too. Could have been a lot worse.

Best for both sides that he moves on. I personally think Fernandez will fill that role better anyway.

Now get a CB ffs!
