2026 World Cup draw
Draw from the Kennedy Center in Washington on Friday from 5pm
The Kennedy Center is the venue Donald Trump has taken control of which is sinking badly
Entertainment by the Village People and Robbie WilliamsPot 1: Canada, Mexico, USA, Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium, GermanyPot 2: Croatia, Morocco, Colombia, Uruguay, Switzerland, Japan, Senegal, IR Iran, Korea Republic, Ecuador, Austria, AustraliaPot 3: Norway, Panama, Egypt, Algeria, Scotland, Paraguay, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, Uzbekistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South AfricaPot 4: Jordan, Cabo Verde, Ghana, Curaçao, Haiti, New Zealand, European Play-Off A, B, C and D, FIFA Play-Off Tournament 1 and 2The draw will begin with all the teams from pot 1 being drawn to groups A to L. It will then continue with pots 2, 3 and 4 in that order.
The FIFA fixFor pot 1, Canada, Mexico and the USA, as the host countries, will be identified by different coloured balls and, when drawn, will be assigned to position A1 for Mexico (green ball), B1 for Canada (red ball) and D1 for the USA (blue ball), as already established per the match schedule released on 4 February 2024. The remaining nine top-ranked teams in pot 1 will be identified by nine balls of the same colour and automatically allocated to position 1 of the group into which they are drawn. To ensure competitive balance, two separate pathways to the semi-finals have been established when developing the match schedule. In order to have a balanced distribution of the teams, the four highest-ranked teams in the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s Ranking, when drawn, will have the following constraints: the highest-ranked team (Spain) and the second highest-ranked team (Argentina) will be randomly drawn into opposite pathways, and the same principle will apply to the third (France) and fourth (England) highest-ranked teams. This will ensure that, should they win their groups, the two highest-ranked teams will not meet before the final.

Re: 2026 World Cup draw
FIFA have allowed games to be played in the hottest part of the day so you can understand drinks breaks
If at all possible I will be watching on the bbc so won’t be seeing ads , I guess they will go to the panel for some pearls of wisdom
Presumably ITV will be broadcasting the ads from America for Uncle Sam’s Automatic Rifle Parlour & Donald Trump doing spokesperson ads for colostomy bags & adult nappies

Re: 2026 World Cup draw
It will be rather nostalgic having a WW3 truce/ ceasefire so that they can play the World Cup. Shame the final's not scheduled for Christmas Day

Re: 2026 World Cup draw
Will that even be noticed between the 5 min VAR breaks?
We can all check our phones...
This idiot will also be watching and Mike can keep his dentures intact, no worries.

They are saying it's a "hydration break" due to weather, but the advertisers are queuing up to fill the time, and no doubt lining both the TV company's and FIFA, s pockets. I reckon this is here to stay regardless of weather, if FIFA can charge extra for broadcasting rights due to this break each half, the TV company increase revenue, they all make $$$$..................
Wonder if its something that will catch on in the PL, CL etc, if they can make extra dosh its got to be on the cards? All be done in the name of player safety, global warming blah blah blah etc
FIFA Confirm Radical NFL-Style Rule Change for 2026 World Cup
FIFA have confirmed that every match at the 2026 World Cup, regardless of the weather conditions, will include a three-minute interval midway through each half—dubbed “hydration breaks”—thereby effectively splitting each contest into four quarters.
Enough idiots on the planet will still watch this because...well, "it's the World Cup, innit". FIFA won't care one bit about any "reasons" people trot out to justify doing so, just that the money keeps rolling in. Sound familiar?

Re: 2026 World Cup draw
And here it is folks, Americans have finally brought commercial breaks in the middle of each half, if there wasn't already enough to hate about the 2026 world cup. We now have mandatory water breaks for "player welfare" regardless of weather conditions:

Seems the Pride game was allocated before the fixture was set as Iran v Egypt
Am sure they will embrace it … and each other

Re: 2026 World Cup draw
Australia got lucky and got one of the underwhelming Pot 1 teams ie the hosts USA
Have Paraguay & one of the UEFA playoff teams
Cant complain
Saw a clip where the USA ‘experts’ were on a panel celebrating that Australia came out
Usual arrogant Yank cunts
They played recently in a friendly which USA won against an experimental Aust team
The Americans complained that Australia were too rough
ha ha ha

Re: 2026 World Cup draw
If games go to form and England and others win their group they are likely to play
Mexico in the Azteca
Brazil in the heat of Miami
Argentina in Atlanta .. also hot
France or Spain in the final
Can’t believe the path via finishing second in the group is worse than that

Still a bit of an unlucky draw and tricky group when you see some of the other groups. However qualification should be pretty straightforward in first or second and we will have to beat far better than Croatia to win the tournament anyway.
what could be a problem is England's first two games will be on a "temporary grass surface" as the pitches are artificial, cant imagine it will be a good job

Re: 2026 World Cup draw
Good draw for England, I think.
Might do us a favour to play a couple of half decent teams before the knockouts.
I also read that if we top the group, we play a 3rd placed team.
