I've been following Oxford since I moved to the Cotswolds and they're also involved in a great escape from relegation. But there's been a tragedy in that Amelia, a 15 year old goal keeper playing for the women's youth team on Saturday, collapsed and died.
News like this puts so many things into perspective. We're worrying about Cry's calf, whilst a family is all of a sudden a child down.
Is there anything in the WHO fund left, so we could send flowers?

Bit cunty anyone trying to bring politics into this, but it is true that more than a thousand teens die every year in the UK and I don't really see why this one is any more deserving of a wreath than any of those (or even deserving of a thread to be honest). If the kid played for the West Ham youth team then yeah, sure.

This hits home so much as my then partner's daughter dies aged just 14.
It will be 10 years ago next August and it still hurts as she was a lovely human being.
I have had many friends and relatives die but this one hurts the most by a way.
She was Amelia as well.

Agree 100%. Any youngster dying is sad and unfortunately not as rare as we'd like (to believe).
It's only because she was a footballer that lifted this into the national news and that alone, for me, is not a strong enough link.
If there turns out to be an underlying cause of death and a charity/research program attempting to tackle that cause, I wouldn't object to a token payment to such a charity on her behalf in WHO's name.
Callous as it may sound, we can't grieve for everyone. Especially using someone else's money.
