?"Been a while since we've had one of these, and the nights are drawing in, so I need something new to watch. A few to get things going.. ""Cold War"" (1998) Series made by the same people who did 'The World at War'. Covers the period from 1945 to 1991. This is episode 1, the same person's put up all the other episodes too.. ""To Mars by A-Bomb: The Secret History of Project Orion"" (2002) BBC film about the Cold War era plan to build an ocean liner-sized spaceship, propelled by endless external nuclear explosions. Fascinating from start to finish. ""Reggae"" (1971) Film about the 1970 Wembley reggae festival. Live clips, interviews, etc. If you like old ska/reggae you'll love it. "

"Those into F1 the Brawn four parter on Disney+ is a decent watch. Not just the fairy tale of a constructor's championship and driver's championship but the background turmoil of barely any money, jealousy of the big teams and the politics between the teams and Ecclestone and Moseley. The only issue is the presenter Keanu Reeves, surprised he didn't send any of the interviewee's to sleep."

Re: Recommend a Documentary
Another shout for: World War 2 - From the Frontlines A bit biased towards the US and it misses out important battles like Arnhem and Burma but very good nonetheless. Fantastic colored enhanced film.

Re: Recommend a Documentary
It’s a pity nobody has ever a documentary on the three guys who got shot in Rettendon. That’d be worth watching ;>)

Re: Recommend a Documentary
What zico said... American Nightmare incredible story... Half way through the new Netflix 8 parter on last years 6 Nations tournament (Full Contact) very well made and a great insight into the background (players/coaches) etc... it's not quite a warts and all Living with Lions but it's very watchable
Re: Recommend a Documentary
Having not watched a Who Do You Think You Are for about 8 years I watched Josh Widacombe's one this week (think it was probably a repeat)... no spoilers but it is definitely worth a watch... on BBC iPlayer.
Re: Recommend a Documentary
American nightmare on Netflix is a pretty incredible crime drama and the US police don't come out of it very well. Watched Schumacher tonight. Not an F1 fan but these F1 docs are very good. Senna and Mansell were also excellent. Incredible when you look at the risks these guys took that it's bizarre bad luck that killed Senna and severely injured Schumacher.

The film was written, directed and produced by Adam Irving. It was nominated for a 2016 Critics' Choice Documentary Award for Best First Documentary Feature."

"World War 2 - From the Frontlines currently on Netflix. Highly recommend this, all the old video footage has been coloured and digitally remastered which adds to the harsh reality of war Also contains many interviews from all sides of the conflict. Of all the WW2 documentaries I’ve watched, this is probably the best out there."

"Three part documentary on the battle of Stalingrad, with interviews with veterans from both sides and civilians alike. You can tell some of these old fellas were hard cunts in their youth and have seen it all. Part one... www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iEnLnezuxE"

Re: Recommend a Documentary
"The 1973 Hells Angel documentary is real and not a send up, hilarious all the same but just shows how much society has changed. These fellas were considered really bad hell raisers at the time, off they went on there bank holiday motorbike ride, shouting naughty things like “Were are the schoolgirls” at passers-by and doing risky things like crossing to the wrong side of the road, then they find a boat, someone gets thrown in the river before they all settle down and watch Dr Who, before it starts pissing down with rain so they all go home feeling fed up and bored. Your average 12 year old gets up to more mischief these days."
