Eubank Snr has always been and always will be a cսnt in my book. Granted a hard tough cսnt, but  had the worst and least valued belt at the time, WBO and never left the UK to fight abroad from my recollection.
Benn fought anyone, anywhere in their backyard. Was superb in the States when he done DeWitt.


 

Dewitt wasn't much of a fighter though. Hopkins, Nunn, McCallum, Toney, Jones Jnr, all were the best about back then, Benn fought none of them.

Was intrigued about this so been doing some googling.  Not sure if true but apparently -

I've never, ever liked Eubank.

I never liked Chris, but then I never liked Benn, neither of them are particularly nice people, but I did love watching Benn fight.

I watched a documentary last night on the Eubanks 
It was mostly set around the build up to the first Benn fight where Chris snr was adamant that his son would be risking his life by boiling down to the lower weight of 11 6.

They stopped talking until he decided to show up to support his son on the day 

As for making the weight he was correct as Chris junior ended up in hospital for three days after severely dehydrated.

The dynamic overall seems to be love hate with the boy having to live up to his dad's name and his old man pretty much taking over and speaking for him earlier in his career before jnr decided to put distance between them and be his own man.

I was still serving in 1990 when the Benn/Eubank pre fight  was in full swing.
Benn served in the RRF and fought in the Army boxing team ..i was on remedial SWIMMING and Benn was using military bases for fitness ..courtesy of the Army Boxing Team..
His taste in music was dog shit...and a bit of a pillock .
But that's the Army...if you excel at any sport you get away with anything

My uncle knew him an all whilst also serving and being based out in Germany back in those times. 

Your Uncle was in  RRF in 1990.?...Paderborn?...they had 3 battalions back then...now down to 1.
one of the battalions was in NI back then...not sure which one

He was stationed out in northern Ireland during the 80s as well as served out in Bosnia later on whilst based in West Germany a lot of the time think osnabruck. Come out warrant officer in the end and still keeps his nose in doing some work down at larkhill and tidworth.

I know Mitchell and his family and watched him develop into a fine prospect at super featherweight before it all went to his head and he ended getting banged up

Every time he tells the story of his subsequent weight gain he seems to add a stone or two and it's now eighteen and a half stone now but nonetheless to lose that weight and get back to challenging for titles is pretty remarkable.

At 32 he has little time to lose and needs to get down to superfeather again as he is to small for a lightweight but if he can hold it together could well be in some entertaining fights going forward.

A showman who leaves it all in the ring.


 

Was a decent fight as it goes, probably a little to early for Arnie, who I've watched a bit under Martin, but he didn't disgrace himself at all. 

Yeah it was decent and both came out of it with credit

I think Mitchell maybe got into Dawson's head a bit too.

He (Mitchell)  took the fight he says at ten days notice and had only been sparring for six or eight rounders so didn't know whether he could go the distance.

A few days prior to getting the offer he was talking about quitting as he was only being offered journeymen on small hall shows and not making any money.

He is now calling out Josh Warrington again ten years or so after originally dubbing him feather fists.

One career soared to great heights whilst the other nosedived spectacularly mostly through a total lack of self discipline.
