I don't get why some people still have any faith in staying up.. this season we'll need 40ish points, minimum 35. Thats 21 more points.  7 wins from 17 games.. weve had 3 this season.

Id be surprised if we get more than 26 points

We won't make 20 points.

The crackhead has 11 from 15.

Ignore the 2 wins which look more flukey every day and it's 5 from 13.

We look less like winning every game and we've just signed one forward who looks like he cares more about shaping his eyebrows than sticking a boot in and another for 96 times what he cost in the summer because the crackhead's partner in embezzlement is his agent and his dad used to peg him at Porto.

While this was happening we've added 5 to an already horrific goals against tally and are still just pondering signing a center half.

I was always careful for wishing Moyes was sacked and that we went for Emery at the time. Unfortunately Villas Board are far more ambitious than Sullivan who resists stumping up any compo. We then compounded it further by missing the boat on Glasner who was out of work at the same time we continued limping on with Moyes till his contract finally ran out.

Moyes wasn't sacked as finished contract 

I know that's why I said till his contract ran out. I just personally wished he had been sacked proactively when the time was right in doing so for the best for our Club.

Something to remember about Moyes...

In reality it was Sullivan that wanted him out.  The fan base was split.  Moyes had final say on all transfers which Sullivan didn't like.  And fans don't offer contracts, owners do.  The guy that wanted him out and made it happen was the poisonous little dwarf in charge.

And in terms of 'be careful what you wish for':

1. No one wished for Lopetegui
2. No one wished for Potter
3. No one wished for Nuno

Moyes was offered a deal...where he reported to Steidten.  He didn't fancy that...Sullivan knew he wouldn't...Moyes was very clear knowing Sullivan's reputation, that his contract would state he and he alone had decision making powers over signings.  Sullivan got rid. 

Then he got someone in who wasn't wanted by Steidten and who DIDN'T REPORT TO STEIDTEN.  Showing the Moyes contract offer was about forcing Moyes out...never changing the structure of the Club. 

Sullivan clearly wanted back on in on transfers....I wonder why....

Steidten then had his job undermined by the allowance of the manager and Sullivan to recruit off their own backs. 

Summerville, AWB, Guido, Kilman...none of them identified by Steidten or the team he put in place. 

Sullivan also refused to go the extra mile for Duran (a few mil)...so we end up with Fullkrug as a last minute 'we have to get someone' signing.  Even tough Duran has since proved to be a bit of a cսnt...he'd have scored goals and we'd have turned a profit.

So Lopetegui goes AND Steidten goes....and what do you have...Sullivan back in full control.  When you look back...Sullivan has been behind this disaster every step of the way.

So when people say 'be careful what you wished for'...the only guy that wished for any of this is Sullivan. 

None of the fans wished for any of these things.

The football under Moyes was simply boring. at least after the first season or so, and I'm glad he went. What's unbelievable is that we managed to replace him with three managers even worse and possibly even more boring. So no, I don't wish he was still here, I wish we had different owners who had the slightest idea what they are doing.

You seem to be forgetting 3 wonderful European campaigns under Moyes

Established PL clubs that end up going down tend to fare better than clubs that just come up for 1 or 2 years before going back down.

Newcastle, Villa etc.

Of the 3 keepers areola is easily our best.  Hes not prefer but has kept us in a LOT of games this season.

If he had competent centre backs he'd be lass of an issue as he wont have as much pressure.

Or maybe the board should have backed Moyes after he won the trophy, the way they did Lopi 12 months later and seen if we really could have progressed forward. 

 

To be fair, money was spent. Kudus, Alvarez, JWP and Mav all came in. Trouble was that the money was in retrospect spent very poorly and clearly not all by Moyes. Kudus at least we made SOME money on and in retrospect it doesn't look a TERRIBLE deal now even though it seemed bad business at the time. Alvarez and JWP for one reason or another both turned out to be expensive disasters and huge wastes of money. Mav is just bang average and should be no more than a sub.
To not absolve Moyes though, JWP was clearly his choice even if none of the others were, and it was a shit, short termist one. If Stiedten got Kudus, then he's the only one to come out with even a crumb of credit.

 

We made a transfer profit though, Appreciate most of that was Rice, he should have been backed, big. 

 

 

He was though. 145 million Euros were spent on those four players. They just all turned out to be failures. Partly down to Moyes, partly not.
