Chelsea penalty for cheating : Minimal fine & suspended transfer ban
Probably an indication of what’s to come for Man City
£10.75m fine & no transfer ban or points deduction
Understand during the current Chelsea owners due diligence when buying from Abramovich they self reported that payments had been made off the books by Putins bag man to thwart FFP
After years they get a meaningless fine & a light tap on the wrist

I refuse to believe he is a chip off Leroy's old block. I actually think he was seperated at birth with Ayoade and that his real biological father is Duane Dibbley. Mother is likely to be Dawn French.

Re: Chelsea penalty for cheating : Minimal fine & suspended transfer ban
Seventeen years ago we were fined £8.5 million, (reduced to £5.5 due to guilty plea) and then subsequently paid compensation of £20 million to Sheffield United. All for one registration cock up over Tevez.
Chelsea are found to be guilty of multiple cases of fraud and corruption which allowed them to gain huge advantages in player recruitment, which brought about major competitive success, which in turn leads to massive spikes in revenue streams.
I’ve been saying for years that what was going on at Chelsea was clearly bent and that they had cheated their way to success. Well now we know that’s true, but to fine them a paltry £10 mill is basically allowing them to get away with cheating.
This just confirms that the Premier League is itself corrupt. The whole thing stinks.

Well that rubber stamps the AFCON being a complete joke of a tournament. Feel bad for Diouf with that shambles of an outcome.

Was reading that the FA could still make a judgement against them
Not sure they can deduct points but they couldn’t do anything more pathetic than this current nonsense

Also, they are supposed to have fiddled around £47 million but only get fined £10 million, seems to prove that crime does pay, they should have been fined a minimum of double to deter future fiddles, but saying that Chelsea seem to lead the way in “ legally” fiddling accounts.

Re: Chelsea penalty for cheating : Minimal fine & suspended transfer ban
I feel like they did that with Everton as well. Didn't they defer it from a season where it would have seen them go down, to one where they were relatively comfortable and it didn't affect them much?

Double standards to preserve the “gravy train” as we can all see. A Euro super league with the rich 5 or 6 in it is the best solution for all. Imo.

The funny thing is according to Talksport, the fine doesn't come out of Chelsea FC or it's owners pockets, it comes out of the Ukraine charity fund that was set up out of Abramovich's money.

Fauxstralian wrote: ↑17 Mar 2026, 10:17 To be fair Everton & Leicester were straight forward cases
You lose more than allowed over 3 years & you are in breach
Everton were in breach twice and got a smaller penalty the second time
Should have been 20pts for the first & 40 for a second offence
Chelseas is a different sort of case but was blatant deliberate cheating that enable them to sign Hazard & others & win things
Should have been a fine of double the £47m of illegal payments made, a 50 point deduction & a 3 year transfer ban
I don’t understand how fielding ineligible players (because you weren’t allowed to buy them anyway) is any different than what we got done with in the court case with Sheffield Utd.
if a player is on the pitch that shouldn’t be and you win something at the expense of another team a precedent has been set as to how that is dealt with in law right?
wouldn’t other team be able to sue for loss of income due to Chelsea having an unfair advantage in those seasons?

Re: Chelsea penalty for cheating : Minimal fine & suspended transfer ban
The last time Man City were ‘punished’ they were told they could only have 21 instead of 25 in their Champions League squad
They had usually only used 21 anyway
Seems certain the 115 charges will be dealt with Chelsea style
A fine & no points deducted or transfers banned

Nothing - absolutely nothing - must be allowed to slow down the PL/CL gravy train.
Manchester City's "punishment" will be akin to bolting an extra 2 or 3 locomotives to the front of that train.
